Writer's Thoughts: Peppermint Village

I love characters and the city. When I set out to create my film series, I knew I wanted to do something that would truly reflect a community, even down to the ages of the characters.

I know, there's the whole target-market thing, but I wanted to go beyond that by bringing viewers into the world of people like them and different from them. It's a way to get another perspective on how people feel and react to various situations in their lives.

The first story in my Peppermint Village series is titled "To Chase The Heart." (See sidebar synopsis.) I used to live in a house that had the only concrete stoops on the block. Every summer, groups of teenage boys would congregate there to sit and talk "smack." I got to be a fly on the wall, as I listened to their hopes and fears. One of the things very prevalent, was the need to be accepted by their peers.

Also, taking research from my coming of age nephew, I learned quite a bit to base my character Donovan Dane on. More on Peppermint Village....
